Faux floral hair accessories
This months blog is all about faux floral hair accessories! If you are looking for some floral interest to add to your bridal hair then of course there is the option of having fresh flowers adorning your locks. However, fresh flowers do not cope too well out of a water source, and before the end of the day the flowers will tend to wilt, particularly if it is a lovely hot summers day! If you use faux flowers you will obviously not have to worry about this problem.
So what can you put in your hair? There are so many options to choose from: floral combs, crowns, Alice bands, floral vines, and floral pins.
Floral crowns- Tend to work really well if you having your hair down, as they are generally placed directly on top of the head. They can be made as a full circlet, half circlet, and can be made adjustable by way of a ribbon tie at the back. I have a selection of both lace and satin ribbon that I tend to use for my crowns. They are generally quite lightweight to wear.
Floral combs- These are lovely when used to accentuate a bun or 'up-do'. They are placed just above the bun or sometimes at the side of an intricate up-do, they are very secure, as the combs have pretty long tines, to help keep the comb in place. they can vary in length and style depending on the hair style.
Alice bands- These are particularly good for smaller members of the bridal party, or if you prefer to actually feel the head piece. Flowers are either wired to a metal band or glued on to a satin band. If they fit well, they are generally quite comfortable to wear.
Floral vines - A floral vine is simply vine string with a number of florals attached at intervals along the length of the vine. It is then simply 'woven' through the hair, creating a scattered flower look. Vines are ideal for those seeking a more natural boho look, and work really well with either loose plaited hairstyles or tousled full length hair.
Floral pins - These are shown in the photo above, using a selection of my floral pins. Ideal for the type of hairstyle shown, where the individual pins can be placed exactly where they are needed. The pins can be placed in clusters to give a fuller look, or placed individually for a more scattered effect. They are perfect if you require just a little floral interest.
